Dear Doug, Chip and Dave,
It is with deep regret that I must at this time tender my resignation, effective as of today, September 12, 2003.
Although I have enjoyed working for the Waikem Auto Group for the last three years (I just passed my anniversary date), I find that the management has become unresponsive to the problems of my position and obviously no longer appreciates my excellent job performance. Even though I have always tried to handle the problems of my position with inadequate supplies or support (I have no office, no desk, no phone, no computer, no input in the management of the company's computers and have had to supply my own transportation, phone and software), I have now been accused of being a "hard to reach, part-time absentee IT guy" - which any one of several dozen Waikem associations can verify as being un-true. During the past year, I have come to the conclusion that I have been working in a dead-end position - with no help from upper management, the most I have been able to do is slow down the progression of your aging equipment with no hope of assistance or new equipment. No one wants to work a position with no hope of things improving, and since that is diametrically opposed to my personal opinions that have kept me alive and fighting a terminal illness, I can't, with a clear conscience, continue working for your company.
I have greatly appreciated the opportunity I have been given to learn and develop, along with working with the Waikem Auto Group's fine staff of professionals and colleagues. I will deeply miss my associations here, several of whom I can now call friends.
As per Doug's email, I have deposited any and all Waikem Auto Group computers, monitors, and supplies that were in my possession with Meredith. I have also included a CD that holds files (documents, photos, etc.) that I have used or created for the company, as these are the intellectual property of the auto group. In addition, I have turned in my copy of the company handbook. Arrangements must still be made to have email from Inet-labs re-routed from my email account, email templates will need to be updated as I will be removing all WAG files from my server, along with notifying employees to NOT contact me by email or phone.
I wish you and the Waikem Auto Group continued success in all your endeavors. Even though we are parting ways now, I do want to thank you once again for this opportunity. Prior to this job, I had spent the previous 2 years of my life as a hermit, trapped in my own house, waiting to pass away. This job gave me a reason to get up every day and get out into life. I enjoyed most of my duties and was glad to have assisted you any way possible.
Sincerely,
Michael C. Bivens
