Week One: Happy 4th!
Of course, the final update from last month was late in the month, so you should probably check back there to catch up. It wasn't a big update, so it won't take you too long to get caught up.

I thought I was going to email you about the update (for the end of June) after I finished the last paragraph; but some partially unexpected  adventures came up, and I had to add a few more things before announcing this latest update.

A while ago, Richard told me to hold this past Sunday night open just in case. He had plans to take his son, Ritchie, and a mutual friend, Sean, to see a Tool concert over in Youngstown. Things with Sean have been kind of hectic lately (new job, new apartment, and a new girlfriend), so Richard talked to me about going to the concert if Sean wasn't able to go. I had forgotten about the offer until Richard mentioned it while we were playing cards last night.
Although I didn't take my camera with me for this adventure (there are probably rules against it, much less the security issue), with the new phone that Jim recently got for me, I still DID have a camera with me!
The last time that Ritchie and I went to a concert together was a long time ago. Back then Ritchie was only 5 when we went and saw the group "KISS". He's grown a lot since then and I sure didn't carry him around on my shoulders like I did at our first concert together.
We had a nice ride over to Youngstown after a lovely day and then enjoyed a great rocking concert. The opening band wasn't too bad and the main act (Tool) was really good! Even the hour ride back home wasn't too bad, as a full moon lit the landscape and highway.

We had tried to plan a canoeing trip for the Fourth with all of our friends; but the weather didn't want to cooperate and we had to cancel the trip at the last minute. Instead we all met up at DO and Cliff's and had a cookout and played cards for the evening.
Luckily theses are NOT pictures of Richard blowing up his hand! Rich had a m80 firecracker that just would NOT light. Each time he tried the fuse would get just a tiny bit shorter. He finally got it to explode without causing any damage to himself or to any of us.
Happy Fourth of July!

Week Two:
Although these seeds got planted late in the season, my morning glories have started to sprout. Jim got me a pack of seeds a few weeks ago, since I grew these at my old house. I've got them planted along the fence of the dog's yard. Not only will the morning glories add some privacy to this area of the yard next year; but  you should also be able to see some blooms along the bottom of the Poolcam picture.
It won't be long until we start seeing some sunflowers blooming! They easily stand about 6 ft. high now and several have started to form heads which will eventually turn big and yellow.
We have bunnies in the brush pile and bunnies in the irises by the pool. This little guy better not be checking out my blackberry bushes! The first three berries have just turned black. It shouldn't be too much longer until we can start picking a ripened handful every few days.

I can happily say that I avoided having HIVES twice this past week! It's been hot and dry lately, so the pool has been in heavy use. We can play ball in the pool for quite a long time (since we have two very large balls, and about half a dozen regular size ones) before they eventually all get knocked out of the pool, and someone has to go round them up. We haven't mowed lately (the grass hasn't been growing due to hardly any rain); but there are still a few patches of clover around the pool. Wouldn't you know it? Even though the honey bees are supposedly disappearing here in North America, I just happened to step on one and got stung! I haven't been stung since I was a kid, and forgot how much it hurts! But, I got the stinger out quickly, and had no bad reaction.

The second time I avoided HIVES was on a "Mystery Trip" that we took this week. A few years ago, we took DO on a "Mystery Trip" (that's where we don't tell her where we're going, just how to dress and what to bring along) and went to the circus. This week we invited DO and Carolynn on one of these trips, and only told them they needed to bring an umbrella and a doorknob. Of course, it was a little white lie I told my two Ohio Moms about needing an umbrella or doorknob for this trip; but it wasn't as big a lie as the "Amish Buggy Incident" that I told to my Mom a few years ago.
After picking up DO, we headed over to Carolynn's and then a little further over to Youngstown, where we visited "Wagon Trails Animal Park. Unlike a zoo, we really got up close and personal with the animals. Jim and I had been a little concerned that I might have a reaction to some of the animals (since I'm allergic to horses), so I kept my distance from the zebras and miniature horses and kept away from the Hives!

Week Three:
If you stopped by this site during the month, you probably noticed the countdown times to Pooltag2 that popped up when you entered this page. We're in the final week before the big shindig, so we've started up our preparations.

Week Four:
I worked as fast as I could to sort, crop and arrange all the pictures and video we took at our blockbuster Summer party - Pooltag2. We were worried about having the pool party since the weather this last week had been cool (only the low 70's), very cloudy, rainy and stormy; but the day of the party dawned clear, sunny and very hot! Everyone had a wonderful time and a whole lot of fun, food, and sun!

Happy Birthday
Jim!
