To be honest, I've always felt a little conflicted about my donation plea anyway. I'm a very "un-materialistic" person actually. My needs are fairly small (a roof, some heat, and food for me and the doggies); except the the price of the meds. My wants are very little (a hot summer, my pets, and friends); but I have to have a internet connection and my domain. Not only has that given me an outlet to use my computer skills and earn a little extra cash; but it's kept me in touch with the world in my sick times, and in touch with my family so far away in NC. A little bit of me has always been me. It makes her feel better, and me too. ;) I still feel bad about asking; but if I can't ask my friends for help, who can I ask? Plus some of them owe me for all my "free" computer services anyway. ROFL |

Though I've always been a very civic-minded
citizen (I try not to speed, I have done jury duty, I
pay taxes, and I change to affect changes by going
through City Hall) and deeply interested in politics,
during the last 15 years I have become greatly
disillusioned by our system of governance. Politics,
media, and advertising have become so intertwined that
any group with sufficient funds willing to sink to using
fear-mongering tactics (our own homegrown terrorists in
essence) |
