leatherman's tattoos leatherman's tattoos

I wouldn't be much of a "leatherman" if I didn't have some tattoos. All totaled, I have five tattoos, and 4 piercings (2 in my right earlobe, and both nipples). Below are some pictures of my tats along with a short story of how and why I got each of them.

The First Tattoo - November, 1985

tattoo #1 - face from Purple RainThe last night I lived in Charlotte, NC, before moving to Ohio, I got my very first tattoo. Having been influenced by the Prince movie, Purple Rain (which was the movie that Randy and I saw on our first date, and where I got the dog names Appollonia and Elektra, and the "Reigning Pets" - "ReigningPages" names), this tattoo was taken from the album liner of the movie's soundtrack. The face, which is tattooed on the left side of my chest, was also in the background of the video for the Prince song "When Doves Cry". (Yes. I periodically shave that spot on my chest when I think "she" has too much of a moustache or beard. LOL)

Tattoo Two - March, 1987

tattoo #2 - leathermanI got my second tattoo while living in Cleveland, which is where the whole "leatherman"-thing started. I pulled this picture of a leatherman from a magazine, in which the man's face was half in the shadows, and had it tattooed on my right upper arm.

Tattoo Three - May, 1989

tattoo #3 - biohazard symbolThere used to be two of these tattoos running around the world. One is on me and the other was on Randy. We found this picture on an advertisement for a Nintendo game. The game is called "Pipe Dream" and this logo is from the company which produced the game, BulletProof software. Both Randy and I have this tattooed on the side of our right calf.

Piercings - March, 1987

pierced nipples You might not have noticed in these tattoo pictures that I also have both of my nipples pierced. I didn't have either of these piercings professionally done - the first one was done by a friend and two weeks later I pierced the other one by myself. As with the tattoos, these piercings did hurt; but only a little. Any body modification probably hurts some (I'm sure there are quite a few readers out there with their ears pierced that can attest that it hurts some), but not so much to deter having it done. (MouseOver the picture for a closer view)

The Fourth tattoo - May, 1997

tattoo #4 - tribal armbandI seem to be one of those people who think that one tattoo is just not enough. For a late birthday present, I got a tribal armband tattooed on my upper left arm.

Tattoo #5 - August, 2001

tattoo #5 - biohazard symbolOn a trip to Cedar Point, my friend Jim had a tribal armband painted onto his arm. Within two days, he had decided that he wanted the real thing. Fortunately for us (or "unfortunately", depending on what you think about getting tattoos. LOL), sitting between two of the dealerships that we work for, is a tattoo shop (Hammer's tattoos). Of course, I always have a couple of tattoo ideas floating around in my head, and while Jim was getting his first tattoo, I got my fifth one - a biohazard symbol - tattooed on my lower back, just above where the waistband of my pants sit. I hope that you know me enough (or have read enough on my website) to appreciate the irony of ME having THIS symbol emblazoned on my skin. Perhaps for my next tattoo, I should have my medical allergies tattooed somewhere. ROFL (Yes, I'm thinking about the "next" tattoo. LOL)
