December December 2000 December

Week One  |  Week Two  |  Week Three  |  Week Four
Week One:
It's that time again. Time to make the cookies, and boy! does DO make the best cookies!
Jim, John and I helped and we caught about 6 dozen cut-out cookies done up.

Well, I'm beginning to lose neighbors now. Before they can start construction of the new school across the street from me, they first have to demolish the block of houses just down from mine.
It's got to be some cold work, tearing down these houses in the cold. As you can see, we've even had a little bit of sn*w. Brrrr!
Oops! I spoke up too soon. Now you can see that we've gotten a lot more snow.

Week Two: A bad night led to a bad morning.
On Mon. night (12/11), I went to DO's for another cookie baking session. Mmmmmm, orange cookies. However, while taking out the second batch and loading the third batch into the oven, instead of grabbing one of the cookie sheets that was to go in, I grabbed one that just came out. OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! So now, I have blisters on three fingers and my thumb. (I had to call off work since it's awfully hard trying to type with one hand bandaged.) But the fun didn't end there. By the time I got back home, a major low pressure moved through the area bringing, not snow, but 40-60 mph winds. At midnight, the power went out!! And didn't come back on until almost noon on Tues.!! As you can see, I felt pretty miserable and very cold when I woke up - I had NO NET! Luckily, my friend Jim came through in my crisis. On the way to work (we both work for Waikem, and he was going to tell them I wouldn't be in due to the burns and power outage), Jim stopped by and left me his house key (and his internet connection! LOL). I loaded up some clothes and the dogs and we spent the rest of the morning in a WARM house. Just after noon, we finally returned to our POWERED house, only to find them still doing serious de-construction on my ex-neighbors' properties.
my blisters as seen from my back steps
cold, tired, hurting and in the dark! with NO NET!!

Week Three:

Come and hang out with Gabby, under the Christmas tree. See the latest Holiday Pictures that I have been added to the Holiday WebSite. Get ready for a bunch of Christmas Day Pictures coming soon!
(I've got to go shopping SOON now!)

Speaking of dogs (I just mentioned Gabby), guess what?!?!? My little family is about to get a little bigger. Yeppers. A new puppy in the house! Gabby and Joxer's parents have a new litter and the breeder called me up to let me know that they had some puppies, and how many would I like. LOL It would be cool to get a couple new pups, but I'm going to be a good boy and only opt for one.
Here's Ginger and the new litter
It's looks like I'm going to be getting TWO of the little red and white guys! I couldn't help it. I went over to check on the guys and they told me that there were still two to go, and would I like another one than the one we talked about. LOL Of course! I'll take TWO!

Week Four:

The last week of this year has been as exciting as the rest of the year. Besides Christmas (which went well all around), the excitement level has been real high. My friend Jim decided that instead of replacing the transmission of his Stealth for the third (!!!) time in 5 months, that he would just buy a new car. I just drove his new 2001 Honda Accord back from lunch. It's really a nice car and he was able to bury all that negative equity (from the red Stealth) and still come out $10 less a month on his payments. WooHoo!

Nearly total De-Construction of the Neighborhood

Not all the excitement has been fun though. Christmas morning with Carolynn (Randy's mom) was canceled (and not on my account, like last year when I was sick). Carolynn's hubby, Ray, had to rushed to the hospital and then life-flighted over to Pittsburgh around 2AM Christmas morning, where they had to do brain surgery to remove an aneurism. It's been several days, and he still hasn't regained consciousness. The prognosis is not good at all. Please say an extra prayer or send some happy thoughts out to Ray and Carolynn. This is going to be a difficult situation for them to handle regardless of how it all works out.

And just to keep me off-balance and on the edge of crying more (from a little holiday depression, the situation with Ray, and just thinking about Randy and the pups that have passed on), there's some incredible exciting news - the PUPPIES are HERE!! Tonight (Fri, 12/30) as soon as I could get out of work, I went to pick them up and bring them home. I'm so happy. They are sooooo cute! For the first pictures - and see the 4 meet for the first time - go to my newest website addition: http://reigningpages.com/puppies. I figured as many pictures as I'm going to take (and have already taken LOL) it was time for their own site. So anytime you want a puppy (or doggie) update, surf on over. (Of course, I hope to turn "Tree-Cam" into "Puppy-Cam" for the New Year. But please be patient. The site will probably be "Under Construction" all weekend!

the first meeting for all 4
