Week One  |  Week Two  |  Week Three  |  Week Four
Week One:

Things are still going well with the new job. Actually things have been going really well. The job is quite a challenge - the good type. The people here at Waikem may not be terribly web-savvy; but they are more than willing to listen and consider most of my ideas. I don't want them to think that I want to change everything here; but they do have a pretty good system going on, it just needs some tweaking to be a real "wired" company. I'm just unbelievable thankful that I'm not running into the blind stupidity that I met with when I did the website for Montrose. :)

The end of this week involved car issues for me once again. The Taurus has been acting very badly lately, and I've been afraid that it might not even get me in to work some days. Waikem provided a vehicle for me to use for work, and they even agreed to letting me use that car for personal reasons for a few days while the Taurus is in the shop - I mean, I do work for a car dealership and one that owns a Ford store. For heaven's sake, you'd think I could get the thing fixed now. And another nice thing, Waikem even has a policy for employee vehicle repairs - I'll pay parts + 10%, $45hr for labor, and they can even make a payroll deduction payment so that I don't even have to pay it all off to get my car back first. WooHoo!

The Blues MobileHere's a picture of that company vehicle parked in front of my house. Doesn't it remind you of the car that Jake and Ellwood drove in the "Blues Brothers" movie? Hmmm, that could be a Halloween idea!! Yes, the spotlight even works. I ran out in the freezing cold dark the other night just to try it out. LOL (Notice that I spent this weekend putting plastic up over the screen porch. You know (from my tales) how cold it gets here in Ohio, so anything I can do to seal the house a little better and keep the warmth in, is good for me!)

Since Halloween is coming up, I thought I put a link here to my haunted house stories. So, get into that Halloween mood and read my tales of some "sPoOkY" experiences. BOO!

Week Two:
A chill in the air, and the foliage changing colors You can tell Fall has arrived by the beautiful tree across the street from me. (Hmm, once again, I'm living in a house without any trees. That just means that they're not my leaves; so I won't feel guilty when I rake them into the street. LOL)
My little baby girl, Gabrielle Gabby
Joxer and Gabby The kids still can't seem to get enough of the screened-in porch. They just "HAD" to come out with me while I hung the plastic.
I forgot to mention that my roomie, John, finally bought himself a computer. So now my desk has moved into the living room (so I get to watch the new big screen TV) and John is in the front room. MY WorkStation
night time flowers A picture of some of the flowers still in bloom in the backyard. (I wanted to test the camera out at night. My "moon" shot was lousy but this one came out okay.)
I forgot to mention that my roomie, John, finally bought himself a computer. So now my desk has moved into the living room (so I get to watch the new big screen TV) and John is in the front room. John and his Hewly-Packard
I stopped into a costume shop looking for something today, and saw these glasses. And just had to have them!! LOL Alien Eyes

I went to the costume shop actually looking for a propellor beanie. See, I work at a desk in the bosses office. I try not to listen in to his conversations, but ...
he was in a business conference discussing his views of how to run an automotive internet department. He believes that a salesman should be put in charge rather than a computer guy. Doug Waikem (the boss) said that he could throw away all his computers and still sell cars tomorrow. Then he made an off-hand comment about "you know how those propellor heads are" in reference to computer gurus (like myself! LOL). It took a moment for me to realize what he meant by propellor head (I wasn't listening in to his meetings, remember? LOL). He noticed my reaction and said that he wasn't talking about me. However, after his meeting as he walked the other gentlemen out, I heard him turn and murmur to me, "propellor head." LOL
So after a quick trip to the store, I will now show him what a real "Propellor Head" looks like!

Week Three:

Work has really been going well this last week. I've been able to be a computer-god several times and help out the boss and several other people. Plus, I even think that I finally have this car inventory database in a good working condition. I've also gotten a lot more used to the whole process.

Now for some really amazing news! And it's all computer related. First, I've got a cable connection now! WooHoo! It's very fast and very kewl. Second, I've gotten an account with Yahoo!, so if you get the chance and don't have that chat program, you should grab it. Then come look for me (I'm online a lot with this cable connect). Look for me under these screen names:

ScreenName@home: leathermanmikie
Email: leathermanmikie@yahoo.com
ScreenName@work: propellorhead2k
Email: propellorhead2k@yahoo.com

And now for the biggest computer news: I finally got my webcam up and running!!

Simply click on the picture below. I'm thinking about running the cam while I'm at work, just so I can check up on the dogs. Hey, if I leave the voice chat up, I could even yell at them if I see them being bad! LOL

Week Four: Happy Halloween!

The last week of October started out just awful. Although I took work home with me and thought I was catching up, between a couple rainy days and a lot of complaints, everything went to hell in a hand basket; but by the end of the week, I had caught up once again, improved my methods of collecting data for the vehicles I put on the internet, and everything had just generally improved . . .

. . .Except on the home front where I'm experiencing deja-vous. It was about this time 2 years ago, that John (the roomie) was living with Jodi and I for a while. Until he lost his job and we had to ask him to leave. Well, the new computer and chatting have totally taken over John, and he's lost his job again. I've learned a lot the last couple of years and instead of waiting until things have totally fallen apart, I've already given him the ultimatum to get a job or I'll have to ask him to leave by Thanksgiving. Now that I am gainfully employed, I don't need a roommate (and their $$$$) so much. I'm not mad with John; but I am upset. He had kept a job for quite some time, and had even budgeted enough to continue paying me while saving up for his computer. I warned him over and over about how the computer and chat could suck him in too much (Been there, Done that. LOL); but he didn't listen and now has to pay the consequences. I have already been burned too much in life and have no patience or tolerance for these things anymore, so I think a quick, clean solution is the best way to go.

Speaking of quick and clean solution, I talked to Jodi's mom about helping me to finally end things with Jodi. Jodi is still driving around on MY plates on the GEO. I asked DO to tell Jodi to bring my plates up to her house where she can pick up the title that I left there. Hopefully, I can get that resolved this weekend and finally call it quits with all the Jodi-situation.
