I have been working a bunch the past couple of weeks, and I'm finally seeing the results. WooHoo! I've been able to cross off a ton of things from my "To Do" lists - the one at work, the one at home, and the one on my computer. I finally finished up the networking and software installation for Expert Auto; got a bunch of Waikem computers anti-virused; did a bunch of yard work; updated the puppies' website; and updated nearly all my other websites!

Summer is here! The Pool is OPEN! We had enough hot days in a row that we finally broke Jim's pool in for the season. I picked up a hand-pump so we didn't have to blow up all those huge floats he has (the dolphin float I added to the collection wasn't very small itself. LOL Nor a very stable ride. ROFL Splash!). I'll get some pictures of all the floats when I go back over Saturday for some more sun and water!
I got a bunch of bad news from back home this last week. First my mom called to let me know that my GrandMother wasn't feeling too well. (She hasn't for a while and seems to be getting worse.) The following day, mom called again to let me know that my Great-Uncle had had a heart attack, died, and fallen off a ladder as he tried to clean out some gutters. My Great-Aunt, who in her old age is very nearly an invalid, had a heart attack herself. Needless to say, things look like they are going to be kind of subdued when I go home at the end of this month. After this news, and what's gone on with Cliff these last few months, it will be good to connect with my family. (That's why I just got my haircut and colored it - I gotta look good, and well, so the family doesn't worry too much about me right now. )
And speaking of Cliff, let me say "Welcome Home, Cliff!!" Yeppers, the old boy has finally gotten to come back home. Cliff went into the hospital on Feb. 24th and returned on July 7th.

leatherman starring in "The Birds" The same day Cliff got home, I starred in my own movie - "The Birds". I woke up and let the dogs out, as usual. As I continued my morning routine, I headed into the bathroom - to be scared to death as a large black bird swooped at me! Normally one doesn't find birds inside their house, so I was instantly awake from the large
adrenalin rush. I covered myself with a heavy towel and shooed the bird to one side of the room. After opening the window and screen, I cautiously scared the bird outside. I checked around and saw no other birds, nor any place a bird could have gotten into my house.
When I got home from work, I left the door open so that the pups could enjoy the nice weather from the confines of the screened-in porch. Just as I sat down to a cold glass of Coke, I heard the doggies kick up a ruckus. As I stepped out onto the porch, for the second time in one day, a large black bird swooped past me. I quickly ushered the dogs inside (although, Aries did NOT want to go. He really, really, really wanted the nice birdie! ), and using the broom, encouraged the bird to fly away through the open front door.
Once again, I sat down for the refreshing taste of Coca-Cola. As I sipped, the chirping of a bird outside the window began to grate on my nerves. It slowly dawned on my that that chirping was NOT from outside; but, rather, it was from INSIDE my kitchen. My kitchen ceiling is actually vinyl siding (Grease, smoke and splattered Coke wipes right off!), about an inch below the original plaster. Beating the ceiling with my broom, I could hear another bird hopping around overhead. I searched the whole house, inside and out. There were no open windows, broken screens or glass, and I couldn't find any way to reach this bird. Carefully, I removed some molding and pried back a corner of the ceiling, allowing the bird to finally escape after another 45 minutes of incessant squawking.
Just to be safe, I'm keeping my work gloves, flashlight and broom handy, in case I come across another bird flying around.
