Pictures of Christmas 2005

Welcome

Warning! Lots of graphics loading on this page!

Decorating for the Holidays

MouseOver this picture to see what we've done with the Christmas Tree this year. It's very odd; but very fashionable. (Plus it's just odd enough to talk about. LOL)

All lit up!

Christmas Cookies

With Christmas on the way, it's time again to make the cookies at DO's house.
Kerry, Kayle, Ritchie and Becca all came over to help ice all the cookies.
Jim seems happy with the way the cookies are looking, as he was in charge of bagging them up for the freezer, until they are passed out at Christmas (and eaten up!)
Shawn and Jana, Linda and Kayle, and Jim are all busy like little elves.
We only have one rule when icing cookies:
You have to ice 10 cookies before you can eat one!

That way, with about 8 people icing cookies, we got at least 80 cookies finished before losing everyone to the munchies and a sugar high. LOL

The following weekend (just a week until Christmas now), we next made Orange Drop cookies.
That was just the first batch! We cleared off the main table, did another double batch and then iced all the cookies. But we're not through yet! Tomorrow we return to DO's to make the Buried Cherry Chocolate cookies.

Sunday was a big batch of Buried Cherry Cookies, a delicious chocolate cookie with a maraschino cherry buried beneath a layer of chocolate icing. MMMMM
The perfect cookie - only lacking some icing

Rosita watches all our work,
and wonders when someone will think she needs petting. LOL
While doing cookies, we got another coating on the outside of "white icing"!

Christmas Eve With Friends

Although plans have changed and this year Christmas dinner is being held at Richard and Angie's, we kept the tradition of going to visit Cliff and DO on Christmas Eve.

Either DO misspoke or the kids misunderstood, because they unwrapped all their presents before we could get upstairs to take pictures. However, Ritchie was a little late coming over and we did get pictures of him. No, it was not a tin of Altoids, it was a really nice onyx ring.
The boys got onyx and gold rings

Jim got me a new set of frying pans and DO got me matching sauce pans
Once again, DO got a lot of Kincaid stuff - a teapot, several puzzles and a calendar
Jim got a glow-in-the-dark 3d puzzle

DO should have gotten her
Ove Glove early,
when she was baking cookies. LOL

How do you know when it's time to end your Christmas Eve party? When the guests all start making funny faces and setting things on fire!
See them pour the shots See the spilled liquor See the tablecloth on fire!

Christmas @ Home

With money pretty tight this year, I wasn't able to get much for Jim; but of course, I made sure to get him some things for Christmas. Along with this shirt and tie set, I got him a couple of pull-over sweaters, some socks and underwear.
For me, Jim got this 1gb  USB thumbdrive
Jim also got me frying pans and DO got me some sauce pans - from the same store, so I ended up with a matching set of cookware. WooHoo!
Jim got me a new space heater, and Carolynn got me a sweater, keyboard vacuum, de-icer and a George Foreman grill.
Of course, my Mom sent $$ and I got my internet connection turned on again. My GrandMother also sent a check but I haven't gotten anything with that money yet.

Christmas @ Carolynn's

Well, I haven't shown a GBS lately, so Carolynn is the lucky one. LOL
She probably didn't even know I took this picture while she was getting our presents from under her tree
Jim has been really good the last couple of years by going with me to Carolynn's on Christmas morning.
We saw, but didn't get to chat to, our friend Herman the Christmas Camel. LOL

Christmas @ the Clarks

Christmas Day Lunch was over at Richard and Angie's house this year, where the stockings were hung by the chimney with care.
